I really had a good day. I needed to have a good day considering all the stuff that had happened over the past eight days. I found five twenty dollar bills in my checkbook. The funny was before I left to go and pay the electric I slipped the dollar bill into the same pocket that the twenty dollar bills were and I did not even notice them. It wasn't until I was done paying the electric bill and looking for that dollar bill that I found them. At first I was going to spend the money on friously things but then I woke up and decided to go and open a savings account

Writer's Block: What is your muse?

If you're trying to create something, like a story, a composition, or a design, etc., do you find yourself imagining how others will react to it? Does that impede or enhance the creative process?

View 741 Answers

I never give any thought to how others would react to what I create, I just create.

If someone likes my creation then I'm happy and if no one likes it I'm still happy.

My creations, whether it be a photograph, a poem or a story, is a piece of me. If people don't like what ever I created so be it. As the saying goes "one man's junk is another man's treasure."

Writer's Block: I'm sorry

If you only had one day left to live, and you had the chance to tell one person from your past "I love you," who would it be? How about "I'm sorry"?

If I had only one day to live the one person from my past I would tell that "I love you" would be my ex-boyfriend David. I dragged him through the mud and aged him about 10 years while dating him and yet he is still a friend and he has helped me a lot over the past week.

The one person from my past I would say "I'm sorry" to is my mom. It took my mom moving to Arkansa to realize how much I took advantage of her while we were living together. I wish I would have grown up while she was still here. Actually I have told my mom that I'm sorry for the way I treated her.

Writer's Block: Short Days

As the Northern hemisphere spins toward the shortest day of the year, it's getting dark earlier and earlier. What comforts do you fall back on when the days are short and the nights are long?

Shorter days means I drink a lot of coffee and surround myself with lit candles, oil lamps, and colored Christmas lights. I love watching the days getting shorter knowing full well that soon the days will get long again.

What Your Cute Monster Says About You

You have enthusiasm for almost everything you do in life. You have a super playful attitude.

You are curious about the world, and you love to learn. You rather figure people out than rush to judge them.

Your inner demon is pride. You can't help but have a big head sometimes.

People think you're cute because you're adventurous. You always bring some fun, which is super charming.

Maria

Yesterday I came across an email that my friend Maria sent me.

In it she stated that Ryan and her are purchasing a house, that she is working towards earning her pilot's license, and (this is the real kicker) she is 18 weeks, and 5 days pregnant.

Then she casually asks me what's going on with me.

I have yet to reply back to her.

It isn't that I'm not happy for her, I am. But the problem is what would I say to her about my life?

I don't have that someone special in my life, and I'm not buying a house and I'm certainly not pregnant.

I have nothing to tell her if she only wants to hear good news.

The  following was sent to me by a dear friend, and after reading it I still have hope  for this world.

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. They're touching words from the mouth of babes . . .

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."
Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"
Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)
Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

Children are the most amazing people on this planet. If we could all think like a child but with the knowledge and wisdom of an adult this world would be a much better place for all man kind.
